Book Description Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. 1st printing of the first Canadian hardcover edition of the author's 2nd book and only novel. LAID-IN is a 3 x 4 inch bookplate SIGNED by the late Alice Munro with a black ballpoint pen. The reverse side of the plate is treated with an adhesive activated with moisture. Note to Collectors: maximize the value of a bookplate for you and a future owner by leaving it loose. A pleasing example, the book is bound in yellow cloth. No markings by a previous owner. Minor tanning to the page edges, the heel and crown of the spine and the extreme edges of the boards. The bottom corner of the front board has been bumped. The beginnings of a reading crease at the crown of the spine runs for an inch. Two, tiny rust stains on the front paste down and a small, faint stain on the back board, at the gutter. Excess glue along the bottom edge of the rear paste down affected the bottom edge of the final free endpaper opposite. The jacket is complete and not priced, as issued. The artwork on the front and back panels is well-preserved. A short, unobtrusive horizontal crease along the top and bottom edges of the front panel and a small tea-coloured stain to the front panel at the fore-edge. There is wear, softening and short tears at the heel and crown of the jacket's spine, and color loss due to wear along the outside edges of the spine. One small puncture to the back panel, next to the spine. The top and bottom edges of both panels are sharp. Multiple signed firsts of Munro's story collections are available from this bookseller. Canadian buyer will be charged GST. Signed by Author(s). Seller Inventory # 002255

Small bookplate of the inscribee on the ffep. The inscribee, Fletcher Markle, well-known Canadian broadcaster of the 60s and 70s, interviewed many Canadian authors.
