From AudioFile:
The author of the popular FAIRY DUST brings another kind of magical creature to life--mermaids. In fact, she creates an entire magical realm, an underwater world populated by mermaids and other talking sea creatures. Heroine Rani is an adopted mermaid not originally from Tingle Reef, and she discovers more about her past in this tale. The elegant narrator, Syan Blake, has an excellent way with Rees's characters, including the nasal Roscoe (Rani's pet seahorse) and the know-it-all Octavius the octopus. But best of all is Blake's Rani--it's refreshing to hear a British counterpart to the American Ariel. This story will transport children to a watery world they'll quite enjoy.
