From Library Journal:
This anthology exploring the response of artists and writers to World War I is ideally suited for library collections. The editors have chosen the prose of nearly 100 individuals who, in their correspondence or published work, attempted to deal with the issues raised by their involvement in the war. The material included is from works of fiction, both best sellers and little-known works, as well as autobiographical sources and letters. Still, the collection should not be viewed merely as war stories. The authors selected are representative of the nations involved in the war and include Sassoon, Remarque, Colette, and Willa Cather, to name just a few. Each selection is introduced by a brief biography of the author. This is a useful addition to most social, historical, or literature collections. Highly recommended.
