Misty's Mischief - Hardcover

PreS This short book attempts to combine the features of Hill's Where's Spot? (Putnam, 1981; o.p.) and Kunhardt's Pat the Bunny (Golden, 1942), but it falls far short of either. Brightly colored cartoon-like illustrations that lack details show the cat Misty in mundane, not very mischievous, mischief. The accompanying large-type text employs simple repetitive sentences such as, "Sometimes she jumps over the garden wall" and "Sometimes she plays with the kittens." Side comments appear in cartoon balloons. The cat's activities (and the book) end with, "But she always likes to curl up on the bed!," whereupon children can lift the book's one flap and stroke a soft, fuzzy piece of fabric meant to be the cat's furand likely to become grimy in a library setting.
