From School Library Journal:
A wonderful how-to book on everything from getting hired to getting paid. The first two chapters, "Why Work?" and "Getting Ready to Work," are well written and organized, with clear-cut honest advice. One impressive example is the statement that "for most of the year your main job is going to school and doing everything school includes." Children are encouraged to compare their likes and dislikes with their skills before searching for a job and to consider the advantages and disadvantages of working with a partner. The second chapter continues in the same vein, with the emphasis on staying safe when working with and around people with whom you are merely acquainted. Job areas covered in the remaining chapters include everything from the traditional child and yard care to tutoring and being a gofer. Straightforward with positive encouragement, Jobs for Kids will be just the impetus ambitious children need to start on the road to having fun and making money. --Pamela K.
