John McEnroe enjoyed tremendous success at all levels of tennis and owns 77 career singles titles, including seven Grand Slams. He joined the circuit in 1978 and it took him only three years to attain the No. 1 ranking. Anyone who read the reports of last December's Honda Challenge 'Champions Tour' will have been struck how one aspect of John McEnroe's character hasn't changed. Despite wealth and a place in the game's history, when he's on court McEnroe still loses it, big time. The jury is out as to whether this is all an act to bring in the punters, or whether, as Pat Cash thinks, it is genuine frustration that he isn't as good as he once was. This autobiography (embargoed because of serialisation) will discuss this and other aspects of this most complex of characters. McEnroe has been in and out of therapy, has fathered five children by two different wives - the first film star Tatum O'Neal, the second rock singer Patty Smyth - and has invented a new career for himself as an assured commentator.
