This is a new breed of travel guides, the first student guides to satisfy the real needs and interests of a college-age crowd. The tone: fresh, sarcastic, irreverent, intrepid, but not anti-intellectual. This complete guide covers England's hottest party towns and resorts, most gorgeous (and challenging) outdoor spots, and secluded towns where you can lay low and mingle with the locals. We highlight everything a hip, young crowd wants: the club and music scene, the best bars, hanging out, retro shopping, cheap eats and sleeps, the gay and lesbian scene, a fresh take on all the cultural sights, and more! Hanging Out in England covers London, Manchester, Oxford and much more, all with dozens of maps.

About the Author:
Kristy Apostolides is a young and idealistic dream seeker. Since hergraduation from Cornell University, she has spent her time craftingand wallowing, depending on which suits her best at the moment, trying to match the exact image seen in her sleep the night before. Anavid explorer, she has managed to reach further into the folds of herown consciousness than is exactly comfortable. She now hopes toexperience the intricate folds of the earth, reaching geographic andcultural areas to an extent further than is exactly comfortable. Shedreams of leaving life with a firm grasp on what nothing is and howto get as far away from that as possible. Eyewitness is the only way sheunderstands how to experience, and her objective is to see everything,at all ends of the spectrum. If it is, she wants to know it.

Dominique Herman grew up in Cape Town (hence the occasional, supremely informative South African reference in the text) and came to take a bite out of the Big Apple in 1996 where she studied journalism at NYU. These days, to the NYC work ethic borne, Dominique is a film producer by day, freelance writer by night. Since she is now an expert on Southern England, Dominique would like her next assignment to be a Frances Mayes style set-up: basking in the Italian countryside (or French, for that matter-she's not fussy). Many thanks to her wonderful family who were supportive as always, and especially her brother, Adam, without whose guidance and assistance she would have definitely floundered in a sea of pasties and teacakes (not to mention his having saved her from massive backache by disposing of half of her bulging backpack before she set off). Send questions, comments, and high praise to nickherman@hotmail.com.

Lauren Koch is a 23-year old New York native and NYU grad whohas lived in Paris, Dublin, and London before writing for HangingOut in England. She is currently attending the San Francisco Art Institutefor photography, and continuing to write creatively.
