This book celebrates The Jewish Museum's centennial in 2004 and its unique art collection. Founded in 1904 in the Library of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America with twenty-six objects, the Museum has become one of the thirty largest art museums in the United States, with a collection of over 28,000 objects ranging from archaeological artifacts to contemporary video art. Its unparalleled collection includes paintings, sculpture, prints, drawings, photographs, coins, textiles, broadcast media material, and the most significant collection of Jewish ceremonial objects (Judaica) in the Western Hemisphere.
