Grade 3-6-- Words such as "barn," "icon," and "teapot" are represented in paintings and objects from the collections of three Russian museums, most notably, the Hermitage. Although most of the objects reflect Russian culture and history, several European paintings from that collection are included. Accompanied by beautifully reproduced full-color photographs, each object is presented with its Cyrillic alphabet character, the Russian name, a transliterated pronunciation, and an English translation. In keeping with the book's bilingual tone, its introduction and captions are written in both Russian and English.
