Gold Discovered in California - Hardcover

This was the story of a man who brought his family to California, not to dig for gold but to perform before the miners of the gold country with such skill and daring few men could ever boast. He was an Englishman, a circusman. As he stood up on the back of his horse circling the ring, little sacks of gold nuggets were thrown at his feet. After the performance he walked around the arena and picked them up. He put them away for safe keeping and later had them melted down and crafted into a beautiful gold chain.

That man was my grandfather. He trained all his children to perform the various feats and did this with incredible skill as bareback riders, leapers, two horse tandems and drivers.
