Andrew Weinshank booked passage for the Isthmus of Panama. It was a shorter, quicker route than by going around the Horn. Andrew and his family made their way over the twenty-seven miles of jungle, first by Bango on the Chagres River, then by donkey over the mountain country to Panama City, then on to California.
