He offers six steps toward "working happiness"; for each, he provides tips, techniques, examples, and performance standards. He also offers lists like "Nine Ways To Get Past Gatekeepers" and "Ten Sources for Networking Contacts." Rather than trying to compete with other career - change titles like Ronald L. Krannich's Careering and Re-Careering for the 1990s (Impact, 1989), Asher provides a nice complement, advocating an aggressive marketing campaign for developing leads, networking, and closing the deal. A strong bibliography and resource list include the telephone numbers of major libraries' reference desks. Asher ( Overnight Resume , Ten Speed Pr., 1990) does not promise overnight success but offers an overnight beginning. An excellent addition to any career-search collection.
