Great Resource! I am going to be teaching as an adjunct instructor for the first time, so I purchased this book to help prepare for the job. The book is filled with many tips and ideas that I plan to integrate into me my teaching. Our part-time faculty population includes those who are new to teaching as well as those who have been working at the college for quite some time. This book is a collection of pieces from administrators, faculty and others who focus on helping both the new and returning part-time faculty member become more comfortable and proficient in the classroom. There is also a section which touches on teaching online, and it is a solid introduction to the topic, but not a definitive guide to teaching distance ed courses. I would definitely say that Handbook 2 is an excellent resource for those faculty who have some experience in the classroom already (returning part-timers). Mary T.
