Kellene Giloff, the President and Publisher of Stampington & Company titles which include, Somerset Studio, Bella Grace, Willow & Sage, Art Doll Quarterly, Digital Inspirations, In Her Studio and many others, has brought together an amazing group of artists and craftspersons to bring every magazine it's own character and brand. In 1994, Kellene Giloff, Founder and President, realized there was a need for a full-color magazine dedicated to inspiring artwork for rubber stamp artists. The Stampers' Sampler was born with a mere 20 pages of artwork submitted by stampers throughout the world. Realizing a need for more advanced artwork that encompassed mixed-media with stamping, Giloff created Somerset Studio, a publication that revolutionized the industry and quickly became the flagship magazine for the company. From there, the company continued to spin off a variety of periodicals that quickly broadened their market.

This book is filled with wonderful transparency artwork. It's very inspiring, however the reader should already know how to work with the craft of transparencies and have creative talent, because the book does not contain step-by-step instructions. It does list the tools needed for most all of the imaginative art pieces. The reading material that accompanies the artwork is well written by the artist and inspiring. This book gives both inspiration and detailed instructions. It covers a multitude of media, and I have improved my own art since I purchased this book. Well worth the cost. I find myself picking it up at least twice a week just to browse through the pictures. Does that make me a kindergartner? Maybe,judging from the pure joy looking at the illustrations provides! Being a huge fan of Somerset Studio, I had an inkling before I ever saw this book that it was going to be gorgeous. It truly is a work of art. The projects are breathtaking, the paper quality, printing quality and photography of this book are exceptional. Unlike some of the altered art books hitting the market, Transparent Art's projects/tips/instructions are on the cutting edge of the paper arts industry. After reading this book, I started playing around with transparencies in earnest. The information elevated the quality of my own mixed media art pieces immensely. I am jazzed by some of the results and have surprised even myself! I have a special shelf in my bookcase for my absolute favorite books that I return to again and again for inspiration. Transparent Art went immediately on this shelf when I finished reading it. --Jen Cushman
