Rousseau (1712-78) was a Francophone Genevan philosopher, writer and composer whose political philosophy not only influenced the Enlightenment in France and across Europe but also the overall development of modern political and educational thought. His Social Contract (1762) and Discourse on Inequality (1754) are cornerstones in modern political and social thought. This edition reprinted from the Everyman edition of 1920 includes The Social Contract and three of Rousseau's Discourses.
