Meet David the Dragon in David the Drowsy Dragon by T. Alan Stanley and H.L. Stanley. David likes sunbeams and treats, and he likes to eat and play. David does not want to sleep though it is bedtime. He is waiting up for something neat and is planning to stay awake all night. David is waiting for a light that will shine bright in the night and it is not the moon. He is not looking for the sun or the moon but he is looking for the star, Polaris. He knows it is going to be there soon. Will David be able to see Polaris?

This interesting story speaks to young readers about the meteor shower and the constellation in an entertaining way. Children are introduced to Polaris, Big Dipper, Draco, and Draconids through the eyes of David the Dragon. The illustrations are magical and it is enchanting seeing the illustrations of the falling stars and the Draconids spread in the night sky. It is a beautiful book to introduce children to the constellation and astronomy in an engaging way, making science interesting for them.

The book is good for bedtime storytelling and tutors can use it for storytelling and read aloud sessions in schools and school libraries.The glossary at the end of the story is helpful for children to understand the meaning of certain words in the story which might be newto young readers. Books like this are good to help children understand science in an interactive way.
