About the Author:
Burton D. Fisher is a former opera conductor who studied at the Mannes and Juilliard schools. He is presently an opera historian, opera lecturer, and author-publisher of over 150 books about opera— books about specific operas, and books about opera in general. Among his many published series and titles are the Opera Classics Library Series; Opera Journeys Mini Guide Series; Opera Journeys Libretto Series; the popular college textbook, A History of Opera: Milestones and Metamorphoses; the Opera Classics Library Puccini Companion; Verdi Companion: 27 - opera Study Guide; and Mozart’s Da Ponte Operas. He was principal lecturer for the Opera Journeys Lecture Series at Florida International University, at the time an accredited undergraduate course of the FIU School of Music; a lecturer for opera and music “theme” cruises; a commissioned author of Season Opera Guides and Program Notes for regional opera companies; a translator of opera librettos for Sony-BMG new CD/DVD releases; and a frequent opera commentator on National Public Radio.
