Avatar Art: Neo-Vedic Paintings Celebrating Life is a book of sacred images from the bhakti, or devotional, tradition of yoga. Sacred art is meant to open for both artist and viewer a connection between the world we perceive in three dimensions and the world of spirit. It's art as yoga and yoga as art. Yoga literally means to link or yoke one's consciousness with the Supreme consciousness, and bhakti yoga in particular links to the Supreme in a mood of love and service. Some yogis create this link throught their asana practice or by chanting mantras or by meditating; others paint. This book contains the revelations received by thirty-one bhakti artists as they illustrate the Srimad-Bhagavatam and other sacred Indian texts in a mood of meditation. Studying under masters in the sacred bhakti lineage and molding their live accordingly, these artists dedicate their live to depicting the message of transcendence.

About the Author:
Steven J Rosen (Satyaraja Dasa) is a disciple of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, and author of some thirty books in the fields of philosophy, history, spirituality, and music, including the popular Hidden Glory of India. He is associate editor of Back to Godhead magazine, as well as founding editor of The Journal of Vaishnava Studies. He lives in New York. Kaisori Bellach has studied bhakti yoga for almost forty years, with an abiding interest in its cultural expression through writing, music, and the fine arts. She has worked as an editor for almost as many years, first as a freelance editor, and then with an independent publishing house. She lives in Ohio, and works for the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust.
