Orig. published in 1900, this is the First Printing in this edition from 1942 (First, thus), with new pictures by Caldecott-winning Russian émigré illustrator Feodor Rojankovsky. Hardcover small 4to (7" x 9.5") has a light green cloth-wrapped spine with decorative paper over the remaining boards. Condition is Good: quite clean, binding straight & strong, hinges secure. Pages moderately tanned, commensurate with wartime paper quality, but unmarked. Front matter pages creased, some others show short tears ascending from bottom edge near gutter.
