Book
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Carl and Mary Hauge / Phoebe Erickson (illustrator). First edition thus. This is one of a series of 18 volumes called Dandelion Library. They are tête-bêche books, head-to-tail, so that you read one story, then turn the book over to start the other. Both stories end in the middle of the book, upside down to each other. This volume contains "The Uncle Wiggily Book", comprising twelve Uncle Wiggily stories (first published in 1927 with different illustrations, and published with these illustrations in 1961), and "Stories Around the Year", a fairly late book in the prolific career of Burgess, first published in 1955. I see that most listings have this book as published by Grosset & Dunlap in 1955. Not true! That's simply the information from the reproduction of the original Thornton Burgess title page. This book has no date, but was published by Grolier in the mid to late1960s. In fact, this book has no title page - just the reproductions of the two title pages of the books it reprints. There's a little wear to corners and edges of boards, but a very good copy, internally excellent.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Carl and Mary Hauge; Phoebe Erickson (illustrator). Octavo, vintage hardcover from the 50's, Turn around book, 2 books in one. Thornton Burgess's Stories Around the Year is near fine with stories from spring, summer, fall and winter, with nice illustrations by Erickson. Uncle Wiggly story has one closed tear on page 86 on an illustration (taped) about 2" else is also very good. Wiggly is 95 pp. and Burgess (my favorite, since I grew up in his neighborhood) is about 30 pp.
