Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. New Translation Edition. Paperback. translat4ed from the italian by Patrick Creagh. Antonio Magnano is the handsomest man in Catania, a veritable Adonis and, from chambermaid to ambassador's daughter, there is not a feminine heart that does not throb for him. In this book Brancati sketches a savagely ironic portrait of Mediterranean sexual attitudes observed in the forcing house of posturing Fascist machismo. A story at once ribaldly funny and quietly heartbreaking, it has since its first publication in 1949 proved to be brancati's most admired and popular novel. 279 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions etc.).
