We bought our copies directly from The Folio Society. This classic and well-written book will be sent to you in the Society's undisturbed shrink-wrapping. As background, Eric Newby was one of the great English travel writers of the 20th century and this timeless book is much valued for his droll account of his wartime service, the exciting description of his escape from captivity in Italy and his meeting the women who would become his wife. The book is bound in blocked cloth. It has 272 pages, colour illustrations (the Frontispiece and six others) and 4 pages of black and white photographs. The size of the slip-cased book in inches is 9.7 x 6.5 and it weighs 0.80 kg.
